By escaping the traditional, the user needs to pay close to some details of structure and know well how and where to install the TV. Unfortunately LG does not send the base to put the device in the rack, for example. So you need to decide whether to put the G1 on the floor bracket, sold separately, or on the wall, which I prefer in that case. The first option, it is worth reinforcing, makes the TV occupy a considerable space in the environment.
Like the GX, the LG G1 is a TV with ultra-slim and sophisticated design. It has a finish all in plastic, both on the sides, which brings a metallic detail, as in the back, which is simpler. The edges are slightly thin, but it’s nothing that can impress at first glance. The base, sold for R $ 2.699, is metal and leaves the look of G1 even more premium, only there is a catch.
LG has created a space in this support to hide the power cord, but it is not totally hidden but organized, we can say so. Another problem I’ve identified is that this same wire is very short, so you need to plan well and see the exact location where it will stay to get the TV plugged in. In my opinion, we lacked a little more care in this process, since we are faced with a model that brings a totally different configuration.
On the connection part, she doesn’t disappoint. LG offers four HDMI ports, all of them 2.1, three USB, a TV antenna input and an optical audio output. Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 5 complete the specifications in connectivity. AirPlay 2 support and virtual assistant integration are other features available, but I comment on them later.
Like the 8K Nano96, the Evo G1 brings smart magic control with NFC that promotes mouse-like usability. I do not think the best solution and sometimes I have difficulty to command it during selection, but you get used to it. In addition to traditional buttons, LG offers shortcuts from Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ and Globoplay. There’s also one for button to trigger the Google Assistant and one to invoke Alexa. Just choose!
Image quality
As its name features, the LG Evo G1 has OLED Evo panel, which promises to be an “evolution” of the OLED we already know. LG explains that this model has new materials, with more emissive power, which in other words means more brightness and deep contrasts thanks to the famous pixels that self-illuminate. All this, however, without raising energy consumption, which is very interesting.
