HMD Global is committed to working with incoming smartphones. This Sunday (27), the company unveiled to the market three handsets: Nokia C21, C21 Plus and C2 second generation. All of them have a simple spec, but promise long-lasting battery life and sturdy design.
In a press conference, HMD Global did not present top-of-the-line phones or tablets, as the focus was on. They celebrated the positive results of their low cost line. “The three handsets announced are a response to the success of Nokia products in the incoming mobile phone market: from 2020 to 2021, we had a 41% growth in smartphone revenue,” the company says.
The first device presented was the Nokia C21, model with 6.5-inch screen, 3,000 mAh battery and single camera (in the rear) of 8 megapixel resolution; the front has 5 MP. The C21 is a device for basic tasks, because its processor is the SC9863A, from Unisoc.
The hardware is still made up of 2 GB ram versions + 32 GB of internal space, or 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of space. It doesn’t come with Android 12 but 11, which is odd, since Nokia is known for worrying about the operating system of its products.
Moving forward, here’s the C21 Plus, which delivers better specs compared to the normal C21. In addition to the more “modern” look, with light protection against water and dust (IP52 certification), it comes equipped with 6.5-inch screen with HD+ resolution, 4,000 mAh battery, and two cameras, a main 13 megapixel camera accompanied by a 2 MP depth sensor; the front has 5 MP.
Plus has been running Android 11 Go Edition and the only information about updates shared by the company is that it has two years of guaranteed security updates. On the hardware, the device shares the brother processor, the octa-core SC9863A, and arrives in 2 versions of RAM + 32 GB of space, 3/32 GB or 4/64 GB.
Finally, we have the second generation Nokia C2, a smartphone with a smaller 5.7-inch screen with FWVGA resolution (!). Just like the C2, it has only a 5 megapixel rear camera resolution and the front one has 2 MP.
The processor, in turn, is a quad-core from MediaTek, whose model has not been revealed. Complete specifications 1 GB of RAM with 32 GB of space or 2 of RAM and 32 GB of storage. The 2,400 mAh battery is not able to make users’ eyes shine, but considering that it has basic specifications, the autonomy should not be so bad.
The company also updated its line of headphones by launching the true wireless Nokia Go Earbuds 2+ with active noise cancellation, splash and sweat resistance, and 24 hours of playback with the case.
Wireless Headphones comes with options for wired or wireless use. The gadget has Bluetooth 5.2, battery for up to 60 hours of music, and can trigger personal assistants of the connected device (Alexa, Siri and Google Assistant). The headphone does not bring active noise cancellation.
