Google Photos will make it easier to create videos with the help of the technology of the moment: artificial intelligence. Google’s photo platform has announced the addition of an AI tool to create clips from specific parameters. It even adds a soundtrack.
The company’s promise is to release the function to all users in the coming days. The novelty will be made available gradually for Android and iOS users starting this Wednesday (25). The feature replaces the app’s current movie-maker functionality.
How does AI video creation work in Google Photos?
The Google Photos update adds a “+” icon next to the share button (in the top corner of the screen). When you tap on it, a new screen will show you options to create Albums, Collages, Featured Videos, and Animations.
Under “Featured Videos,” the user will find the new “Create Video” tool. From there, you can choose a specific theme for the clip by filtering by people, places, activities, or dates.
Then, Google Photos’ AI does the work of selecting the best content to include in the video. In addition, the app itself adds a soundtrack synchronized with the sequence of images.
It is worth mentioning that the process may take a few minutes to complete. At the end, the app allows the person to arrange the order of the photos and videos and choose a new background music before saving the material.
Simplifying jobs
Google Photos’ AI-powered video creation tool promises to save users’ time. Previously, people had to manually search and select the photos and videos they wanted to include in a clip.
There are no details on whether the feature will be available on the web version of the image storage service. However, this would be an interesting feature to be used on computers as well.
