Samsung wants to go further with the successor to the Galaxy S22 Ultra. According to GalaxyClub on Thursday (29), the brand intends to include a 200 megapixel camera in its next release. If rumors are confirmed, the future phone will follow other manufacturers who have taken the high-resolution sensor to their phones.
The bet revolves around the expected Galaxy S23 Ultra. According to the website, Samsung intends to take the 200 megapixel sensor to its future mobile phone. In addition, the phone tends to keep the 10 megapixel telephoto camera that offers 10x optical zoom.
The site did not even tell what would be the sensor of the cell phone. However, in June, the South Korean brand introduced the Isocell HP3, which offers a solution to unify sixteen pixels of 0.56 μm at one of 2.24 μm. Thus, the phone ensures 12.5 megapixel images with more detail and with greater light capture.
Samsung has another sensor with the same resolution: the Isocell HP1. Introduced in 2021, the 200 megapixel component takes 12.5 megapixel photos with larger pixels than the Isocell HP3 (2.56 μm) thanks to the same binning pixel technique. The camera was also used to print a giant photo of a cat in a campaign presented in May.
Despite being a Samsung sensor, the brand was not the first to use it on their phones. The Motorola Edge 30 Ultra is the pioneer in this race, which brings the Isocell HP1 sensor behind the lens with f/1.9 aperture. And between us: during my brief test, the manufacturer did a good job with this photographic set.
But this is not the only advanced cell phone with this increment. In addition to Motorola, Xiaomi will also launch a mobile phone with 200 megapixel camera: the Xiaomi 12T Pro. The phone should still bring two more cameras, one of 8 megapixels (ultrawide) and another of 2 megapixels (macro).
If it comes with a 200 megapixel sensor, the Galaxy S23 Ultra will follow a possible trend among advanced phones. However, it is important to emphasize that the expansion of resolution is not always tied to the increase in quality. Other elements, such as the lens and processor, also weigh on this scale.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra is not expected to be released until early 2023. But you do not have to wait for the premiere to see it: this Thursday (29), the phone gave the faces in leaked renderings. This is shown by a SmartPrix publication in partnership with Steve Hemmerstoffer, known on social media as OnLeaks.
The images reveal a phone much like the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Like the current generation, the launch has a space at the bottom to store the S Pen. There are also four rear cameras arranged in the upper left corner without a module to house them.
The smartphone should still bring a 6.8-inch screen. In the leak, the duo reports that Samsung will reduce the curvature of the sides. Other bets revolve around the advanced specs, possibly led by the future Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
