The Redmi Note 8 gained a new edition a few years after its release. Announced on Tuesday (25), the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 (2021) brings the MediaTek Helio G85 processor in place of Qualcomm Snapdragon 665. But the quad camera of 48 megapixels and the look of the phone presented in 2019 remain.

The release gives a refreshment to the phone that had its first appearance about two years ago. Like the previous model, the screen is 6.3 inches long and has Full HD+ resolution. Around it, the reduced edges and drop-shaped notch provide a 90% utilization to the display. The front camera has 13 megapixels.

Highlight of the previous edition, the quadruple photographic set remains. The main camera has 48 megapixels and can take 12 MP photos in more detail with the technique that combines four pixels into one (pixel binning). The other sensors have resolution of 8 megapixels (ultrawide), 2 MP (macro) and 2 MP (depth).

The main difference between the two editions lies with the processor. In 2019, the Redmi Note 8 came into the world with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 in the intermediate data sheet. Now the Redmi Note 8 (2021) brings the MediaTek Helio G85 inside. According to Xiaomi, the new edition offers “a complete stellar performance for daily use”.

The RAM is 4 GB. To save apps, photos, videos and the like, your smartphone has storage of up to 128 GB. File space can be expanded via a microSD memory card. The 4,000 mAh battery promises two-day duration at full capacity, according to the manufacturer.

The smartphone comes out of the box with Android 11 (MIUI 12.5) from the factory and accompanied by a charger. Specifications are complete with 4G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity. To unlock the screen, the user has a fingerprint reader on the back and facial recognition.

The Redmi Note 8 (2021) will hit stores with a suggested price of $169, with 64 GB of storage, and $189, with 128 GB of space. The amounts are equivalent to about R$ 895 and R$ 1,005, respectively, in direct conversion. There is no forecast for the launch of Xiaomi’s new phone in Brazil.
