The beta version of WhatsApp for Android has started receiving filters for the list of conversations. With them, you can display only unread messages or groups. The idea is to find what you’re looking for more easily, which can be interesting for those who have a lot of chats at the same time.
The novelty was seen in version 2.24.6.16 of WhatsApp for Android, still in beta. According to WABetaInfo, a website specializing in the coverage of the app, conversation filters are being released to a limited group of users. So, if you’re in the testing program and don’t have access to this tool yet, you’ll have to wait a little longer.
Conversation filters appear as buttons at the top of the conversation list, with options for all chats, unread messages, and groups. They only appear after scrolling down the screen, giving it a “little pull”.
WhatsApp Web already has filters for conversations
This feature already exists in the web version of WhatsApp. In addition to the buttons for all messages, unread and groups, there is a fourth option, for contacts, which can be interesting for those who receive a lot of messages from unknown numbers. In early February, a new option, for favorite conversations, appeared among the features in development.
The iOS version has a much simpler filter, with a single button to display only conversations with unread messages. The Business version of WhatsApp, on the other hand, has a more advanced feature: it is possible to add tags to conversations, to identify and filter them more precisely.
Other apps also offer more complete tools. Telegram, for example, allows you to organize conversations into folders, which can be automatic (groups or unread messages, for example) or personalized (contacts chosen by the user).
