A security breach at Molotov
The popular streamig platform Molotov has announced that it suffered an “intrusion” on the information systems. As a result of this breach, insecure people gained full access to all customer information of over 10 million clients.
What data was stolen?
This incident of hack happened last October and only targeted users’ email addresses of 10.8 million primarily. Still, the company announced that other personal information including the first and last names and dates of birth of some users are also involved. Molotov did not indicate the number of users from whom this information was stolen.
Personal banking details and card numbers and other details as well as passwords stay safe
Still it must be noted that as a result of the intrusion no bank data or passwords were compromised the company maintains. Indeed, only the enumerated personal data was targeted by this attack.
Actions in progress
This is something that once happened, and Molotov responded, well, not literally with force, but wisely. ”Subsequent to this, a complaint was promptly lodged,” the company said in its response to AFP. However, the CNIL the data protection watchdog was informed of this leak as a legal requirement of the company. The CNIL assured that this notification was received.
It also informed its users whether to be wary of possibly malicious or spam emails.
