Rockstar has confirmed that the trailer for GTA 6 will be released in early December, much to the delight of fans of the open-world franchise. GTA IV will be the first game in the series in over 10 years, as the mega-hit GTA V arrived on September 17, 2013. The release of the trailer will be part of the celebration of Rockstar Games’ 25th anniversary.
It’s been more than a year since the last time the developer revealed information about the advancement of the title, which is already considered one of the most anticipated in the gaming universe.
The confirmation that the GTA 6 trailer will be presented in December puts an end to rumors about the game. Early on Wednesday morning, Bloomberg reported that Rockstar Games would announce the game this week and the trailer in December. For weeks, the rumor of this trailer has been circulating the internet and the gamer universe.
There is a huge expectation for the release of the sixth game in the numbered GTA saga (excluding the games named after the cities where the story takes place). GTA V is a sales success — not for nothing Rockstar continues to reheat the game for different console generations and has even launched a subscription service for the online version. However, there comes a time when the audience gets tired.
In 2021, the trailer for the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X version of GTA V received a shower of dislikes on YouTube. The action was a protest by fans of the franchise who can’t stand the amount of “reheating” that Rockstar gives to the game. Since YouTube has stopped showing this information, there is no way to know the amount of dislikes the video has now.
Months after the protest, in February 2022, Rockstar calmed fans by confirming that it was working on GTA VI.
Most of what has been revealed about GTA VI has come from rumors — some of which has been confirmed by a file theft. The next game returns to Vice City, the Miami of the Rockstar universe, which was the setting for the (wonderful) GTA Vice City and GTA Vice City Stories. Rumors suggest that the game will be released in 2024.
The theft and leak of the company’s files also confirmed that GTA VI will continue with multiple protagonists — something that appeared in GTA V. This time, players controlled Jason and Lucia, who would be a kind of Bonnie and Clyde in the game’s story.
With Lucia, it will be the third time that GTA will have a female protagonist, but the first canonical female character. GTA I and GTA II allow the player to choose various characters to play as, including some female options.
